I'm back!

 December 10th
marks my appearance back into the blogging world,
kind of funny because a year ago I was making my appearance back into the
good ol' U-S- of A.
Crazy to think how much has happened over a year...
How much I have learned/ found out how much I still have to learn.
I guess with the New Year coming it is the perfect time to set aside a list of things I want to learn this year (I guess I could call it "My New Year's Resolutions", but that always seems to jink it, doesn't it?)  Anyways, here are somethings I have on my list so far:
1. Figure out how blogs work!
Seriously I have know idea what I am doing here. I tried to switch my blog onto my current email, ended up messing it up and now I have to log in to my old email all the time...
It is kind of retarded.
I am seriously considering hiring some computer tech major to help point things out that are oh so obvious to him, but not to me.
(I have to take advantage of being around all of these smarty-pant computer students (who will work for free?) while I still can!)
2. Learn how to convince my husband that bringing a lunch to campus is cool...
Even though it probably isn't..
I laugh at those Zoobies, where the wife brings the husband his sandwich and they eat matching sandwiches together.
I promise, I won't make him feel like his mom packed him a lunch and write him notes on his napkins
unless he asks?
3. Learn how to do Genealogy.
So weird that I am saying this and I'm not completely sure if I am sold on it or not..
I don't want to be one of those people whose conversation starter is discussing a new ancestor they just found to put on their family tree.
But hey, why not right?
Cool fact for the spirit of Christmas:
My mother-in-law just found out that we are related to Herod.. yup ol' King Herod.
Oh great I am already becoming one of those people... help?
4.  Well okay 3 is all that I have right now.
The others are too personal to be sharing on the world wide web..
Such as: mind controlling my husband so he won't be so stubborn and agree with me all the time, let me buy fun stuff we can't afford, talk him out of his Netfix addiction, convince him to work 2 jobs next year so I can take my 18 credits in gleeeee and have him bring me flowers everyday... but lets be real, it is getting late and I am confusing dreams with goals..
So stayed tuned because there is bound to be plenty more goals to be made.
See you after finals!
and
Merry Christmas!

Law School Apps.

Its official we Mike is applying is applying to Law school.. now the question is where?
Any ideas?

They:
  • Would like him to end up in a good school
  • They have no idea where they want to live after law school so they want a school that has good placement all over. Okay not all over, we are not big landlocked fans... (what can we say, we love water).
  • She wants to live in a place where she is able to start up a career in Interior Design/ get a good amazing internship.
  • Wants to live somewhere new... wouldn't mind a big city.
  • Want a school that is not going to put them in debt till they are 80 :)
  • Kind of hoping back east... but he loves the South...
  • He would love a big school with good sports teams.

Holiday Spirit

So I know this post should be about Halloween, what Mike and I dressed up as and all that Jazz... but lets face it that did not even happen... yet? And we did not even carve pumpkins... I know... Halloween Baugh - hum- bug right? Okay in our defense I have been baking up yummy pumpkin treats, we are decorated for fall and we are liking LOVING the leaves change. But I guess what we are really excited for is Thanksgiving and of course CHRISTMAS!! Yesterday we were at Costco and we saw all of the Christmas decorations and this is silly but pomegranates which always remind me of the yummiest salad we have on Christmas. Plus all of this other festive foods, treats, and games for kids! No joke I wish I had a sixteen-year-old living with me so we could buy this Karaoke set that was there.... John? Anyways, needless to say we are so excited for Christmas! Mike even asked me if we wanted to start buying Christmas decorations. Being a firm believer in the whole start celebrating Christmas the day after Thanksgiving I painfully rejected... might regret that later.

Anyways... officially 48 till Christmas break
26 till we start decorating for Christmas
25 days till we go home for Thanksgiving
And 0 days till Halloween..

Happy Halloween!!

London Girls

Okay I have a few questions for the girls who were in London with me a year ago...
First off.... Can you believe it has already been a year!?!
Second why did we shop at places like Primark in London and not at places with shoes like these?

How did we not know about these stores when we were in London?
Because now spending 50 Pounds on shoes seems a little much.. even though the pound is better now... I know I would have bought them when I was in London no matter what the pound was...

Weather

Okay so I know that I really need to update but I have so much homework to catch up on but frankly all I want to do is to cuddle up in a blanket, make some herbal tea and watch a chick flick.
Multi-tasking?
You know it!

Shout out to this man....

So this is a beyond belated post. This man took the LSAT on the 9th turned the big 2-4 on the 11th and is the best husband a girl could ask for. Besides that he is beyond handsome....

Right?
Here are some things that I have learned about my 24year-old husband since we have been married.
  • He loves Ruby Red. I think I have bought over 20 Costco size bottles of Ruby Red Grapefruit juice since we have been married. And he drinks from the bottle. I do not even try to stop him.
  • He is the cutest sleeper I have ever met.
  • He laughs in his sleep whenever he has a funny dream.
  • The only thing he likes to watch on T.V. is ESPN and every Football or Basketball game that is on.
  • Most people listen to music in the shower, Mike listens to ESPN radio.
  • He is beyond dedicated to school and getting into a law school. (Which I am so grateful for)
  • He bought golf clubs for his birthday and now he wants to go all the time.
  • He does not get why we need to decorate the house or spend money buying clothes.
  • He does not make plans because he does not see the point in talking about something till the times comes. Everything always works out.
  • He is really patient, especially with me.
  • He doesn't stress ever. Seriously and does not get why people do
Seriously, I am so lucky that I am married to this man! I am excited for man more years to come. Here is what we did to celebrate his birthday.
Surprise Monday Night Football.

Cookies Cookies and more Cookies

Why is the only that I consumed today cookies? Seriously breakfast, lunch and dinner COOKIES!
So disgusting and so unhealthy but yet sooo good.
Maybe it is the weather?
Maybe it is the fact that my mother-in-law sent me a variety of cookies from her fall cookie party and I HAD to see what each one tasted like?
Maybe it is both?
I think it is both.

P.S Now I am watching the biggest loser. Can I take a break from life and have someone whoop me into shape?
Seriously though...

Conference and Picnics

A year and a half ago Mike asked me to go on a double date with him and his friend Dan plus date to General Conference and a picnic. This Conference we did the same thing!

Conference Spring 2009

Conference Fall 2010

Can you believe how pale we have already become? It is still warm outside but we have not been able to enjoy the sun. Instead, we have been enjoying this....

Oh how I am going to miss you next year Harold B. Lee.

Shout out to technology

I love technology. Ok well not all of the time because it confuses me and well... you all know how stubborn it can be but for the most part I love it. Something Mike and I talk about is what we were doing a year ago today. I am so thankful that my husband was the best and wrote me and email every day when I was in London. Oe of my favorite things to do is to look back on our emails and see what we were up to a year ago to the day. It is so fun. I am so thankful that A. Mike and I were able to communicate so easily while I was gone B. That he took the time to write me emails telling me his play by play and his thoughts everyday and C that I can look back on these emails and read them.  So according to our emails a year ago today I was in this place

where my camera and rain boots broke and Mike was planning a trip to this place

to ask my Dad permission to marry me!

Weekend Adventures

So my friend Lauren and I had this conversation about how blogging can be sometimes like a brag wall. Let me just give a little heads up that this post is going a be a little like that. For people like my dear mother out there who is wanting to hear what the Kelly's (yes I am a Kelly now!) did this weekend here it is:

A little of homework and a lot of playing... aren't those the best?

We kicked off the weekend at one of Mike's football games where I sit on a sidelines and feel a little like I am living a high school life that I never had, cheering on the football player boyfriend at his games (minus wearing his letterman's jacket, of course). Then we went over to our friend Nat and Jeff's apartment and had a fun little triple date making pizza's with them and the Hyde's.
I love how we are all becoming such good couple friends.
Then on Saturday morning I went to celebrate the fact that my cousin Ali is prego and having her baby in a couple of weeks... okay maybe a little longer but I think I can say that we are all hoping October.  She is going to make the best mom! Next I went from hanging out with all girls to hanging out with all boys at a single boys apartment with Mike. It was so fun though and my dear friend Lani came a kept me company. I love when I get to spend time and just catch up with her. That night Mike took me on a date to celebrate my early birthday. We drove through the canyon up to Park City where we (okay I) shopped. Then we ate at our favorite resturant in Park City, The Loco Lizard!

Now I am just sitting on our couch while Mike and Darrell are at Darrell's making me dinner for my birthday. I am a little nervous that I can't see what they are making or more importantly how they are making it. But I am sure they will do fine and I am just happy that no dinner mess is being made at our place tonight....

I hope you all had a great weekend and are still trying to soak up the last few moments until the week begins.

The other side of the Pond

Can I just vent for a second and say that I miss London EVERYDAY!?! I could start listing all of the reasons why I miss it, but there are just too many and I do not think anyone really cares to hear. I just wanted to say that I really do miss London and I wish that I could walk out my door and be in Hyde Park. If only the Pond that separates us was not so big and plane tickets weren't so out of my price range I think I would consider taking a trip very soon....

Smith's

So we have turned into that couple that goes to Smith's on our Friday nights. I don't really mind though because it is fun to be together and with our busy schedules it seems like we hardly get to. One thing I do mind is these comments he made yesterday at Smith's.

(On a previous conversation of how we are not going to celebrate the Halloween until after our birthday's)
Me: "Oh look they have Halloween candy, but don't worry we won't get any till after your birthday."
Mike: "I don't get why we have to get Halloween candy at all."

Second conversation
Mike (looking at the cart, he picks up the yogurt) "What is this?"
Me: "Mike, I can't keep eating sandwiches and pasta everyday. All of these carbs are going to make me fat, so I am buying other alternatives"
Mike: "I really don't think that a sandwich everyday is going to make you fat Courtney"
Then he gives me the look and I know he is referring to my love of dessert.
Me " I know, you're right, but I would rather sacrifice my calories at meals so I can have dessert, they are my favorite calories of the day"
Mike: shakes his head
Man, if my husband has one flaw it is that he doesn't love desserts, and it is so sad because I love making them! Thank goodness for Darrell coming over for dinner every Sunday or else my little treats would be eaten by only me and then I would get fat.

My favorite forgotten treat is Peanut butter and Oreos. I think I am going to try adding peanut butter into my Oreo truffles. Darrell get ready, I have a good feeling about this one!

Kristen's Wedding

So for the past month my family has been on wedding mode... again. But this time for my lovely sister, Kristen. We came back from our wedding celebrations to Matt to telling me that in 21 days was their wedding day. Ever since then it has been: showers, guest coming in town, dinners and the acutal Wedding. It was fun getting to know her bridesmaids better and spend the weekend with them! It was also fun to have my mom's side of the family down this past week. I wish that it was better beach weather for them but we made the best of it anyways. Now I hear that Matt and Kristen are back and I can't wait for them to come over and open all of their presents.
Here are some pictures of their two showers that I never posted.

We did it!

We finally created our family's blog (and when I say we, we all know this is Courtney writing this as Mike could care less if we had a blog to document our lives on). But here we are, back from our Honeymoon, Open House, and settling into the real world. Here is an update on our first month as Husband and Wife.

We got married and Wedding pictures are still to come.
This is the family the week of the wedding when I went through the Temple.

We went on a Caribbean Cruise for seven days out of Miami. First stop: Haiti where Mike zip lined across the ocean and we spent the rest of the day relaxing by the beach and inhaling food at the buffet. Second stop: Jamaica where we fulfilled my lifelong dream of swimming with the dolphins. We actually only swam with one dolphin, Mitch and then we hiked Dunn River Falls. Third Stop: Grand Cayman where we took a boat out to Stingray City and Mike chased the stingrays around. After Stingray City we had an hour to spare so we walked to the Guy Harvey store and MET Guy Harvey. Mike afterwards told me that he could die now. He said he had married the girl he loved and met his hero. I am glad he put me first:) Then for our last stop we went to Cozumel, Mexico. We took a Dune Buggy around the Island to go snorkeling, eat, and shop. The water was so beautiful and every place we went was amazing! The ship was so fun as well: unlimited food, free diet coke and a two lounge chairs to lie out and get tan.

Once back from our cruise we spent the day in Miami experiencing Miami. And when I say experiencing, I mean experiencing. Here is my favorite picture that about sums it up.

After Miami we drove on up to Orlando and spent time in the Happiest Place on Earth. We meet up with these people and had a great time.

Once our time was up in the happiest place in the world, we went to the nicest place on earth, Niceville, Florida. We spent a great week spending times with our families, enjoying the wonderful open house Priscilla put together and just enjoyed our time with Mike's family.

Now we are back and settling into the real world. Mike is interning at a Law Firm in Irvine and studying for the LSAT, while I am working for my fifth year with the Lifeguards. We are excited about spending our summer near the ocean and will post more soon.
